Mammoth Cave National Park, KY

Today’s our last full day in Tennessee. We decided to drive north to Kentucky and visit another National Park, Mammoth Cave.
After about an hour and a half drive we arrived at the park. We decided to take the Historical tour of the main original Mammoth cave.
The tour was incredible. At one point we were 200 feet deep in the pitch black natural cave system. Its amazing that something so large, and intricate can withstand hundreds of years of the elements and human exploration. The caves are still growing and new tunnels are being discovered every year.
If your ever in Kentucky or passing by, I highly recommend doing a tour (historical tour). We plan on going back next year when we pass through on our road trip. There are several longer tours that offer a more in depth look at the cave system and surrounding areas.

Meeting Dave Ramsey!

On Monday we spent the afternoon at The Dave Ramsey Show, just south of Nashville, TN.
As many of you know Ben and I payed off $72K in 13 months last year by following Dave’s 7 simple steps to financial freedom.
We were so successful and inspired by Dave’s Financial Peace University that we started teaching it to others in our community.
To celebrate our achievement we planned a trip to Nashville to meet Dave and to be guests on his radio show.
Dave interviewed us on Monday May, 20 during the first hour of the show. It was a great interview and a wonderful experience.
The staff at financial peace plaza were so welcoming and Dave himself even took time to meet us and congratulate us on our achievement.
I’m so thankful we took the opportunity to visit the show, it truly made it a lasting memory for us.
Thank you to all who have supported and encouraged us along the way.
Next is our Legacy journey. Now that we are debt free, with a fully funded emergency fund, we can travel and start the next chapter of our story!
Thanks!

5 Point District
Barista Parlor, East Nashville

By far the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life. I never understood the whole pour over, drink it black, fancy coffee until now.
I ordered a cold brew and Ben had a cup of Stumptown.
The cafe had a vintage decor. You will find motorcycles, radios and modern art scattered throughout. They even have a variety of local and global dark chocolates that compliment the brews. Recently a stage was built outside for live music.
I am hooked! We will def return before we leave.
Check it out.

YeeeHaaaa
Downtown Nashville.

We arrived in Nashville this afternoon, checked into our place and headed downtown.
We met a couple at the Music City hostel, who was playing at
“National underground” a bar on the main strip. We had lunch and watched them perform a set.
Afterwards we walked around and played around in some of the shops, trying on western gear.

Check them out on Facebook: The Bird and the Bear.

Mt. Mitchell State Park, North Carolina
Today we drove up the Blue Ridge Highway to Mt. Mitchell, the highest point east of the Mississippi.
It was rainy and very cloudy, so visibility was poor. We made the best of it. Lucky on the way back down the sky cleared and we were able to see some beautiful views of the Smokey Mountains.

Downtown Asheville drum circle

Friday night we went downtown for dinner. Zach had mentioned that every Friday in the park random people get together and jam out on their drums. Ben being an avid drummer had to see this!
It was madness! People dancing ( or trying to, at least) playing flutes and just enjoying the moment.
After watching for a few moments Ben asked if he could jump on.
It was so fun.
